How to Qualify for the Crossfit Games?
Christopher J. Henneforth is an experienced businessman and venture capitalist from Ohio and the CFO of Omnia Medical. In his spare time Christopher J. Henneforth enjoys CrossFit, and is currently ranked on the top 1000 in his age group in the country, hoping to reach CrossFit Games by 2024.
While the first CrossFit Games were held on a ranch in California with only 70 participants, the modern competitions involve hundreds of top-ranking professionals worldwide. All participants need to qualify by signing up for the Open. The top 10 percent can go onwards to the quarterfinals or the age-group competition.
Competitors need to advance through the quarterfinals, then through the semifinals. The quarterfinals have limited slots, based on the continent you’re from (150 men, 150 women, and 100 teams from North America can compete). If you happen to be within three spots of the qualification you can get into the last chance qualifier, with the top two spots in that competition making it to the CrossFit Games.
If you are an age-group competitor you compete against others in the age group (spanning five years each after 35, with a single group for people older than 60). The top 10 percent of each age group in the year advance through the Games.
2021 also introduced the Occupational Games, pitting military members, healthcare workers, college students, law enforcement, school teachers, and firefighters against their peers.
